Network Engineer
Role Summary
Network & Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the network infrastructure and security measures within an organization. This role requires expertise in networking technologies, network security, and firewall administration. The Network & Security Engineer collaborates with other IT teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure the secure and efficient operation of the network infrastructure
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, routers, switches, wireless networks, and related technologies.
- Deploy and maintain network security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, ACLs, and endpoint security to safeguard organizational assets.
- Develop, implement, and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of network resources.
- Monitor network performance and security, conduct vulnerability assessments, analyze traffic, and implement optimizations to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve network and security incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, operational procedures, and security incident reports.
- Collaborate with technology vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate, implement, and support networking and security solutions while ensuring SLA compliance.
- Stay updated on emerging networking and cybersecurity technologies, recommending enhancements to strengthen infrastructure performance and security.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience as a Network & Security Engineer with expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and administration.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networking, and enterprise connectivity.
- Hands-on experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, ACLs, and endpoint security solutions.
- Good understanding of security frameworks and best practices, including ISO 27001, NIST, authentication, authorization, and encryption.
- Experience using network monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis tools such as Wireshark and SNMP-based monitoring solutions.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Background
- Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent.
- Experience with enterprise network monitoring, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, hybrid infrastructure, and modern cybersecurity technologies.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, security governance, and compliance standards.
