Job summary:
Network & Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the network infrastructure and security measures within an organization. This role requires expertise in networking technologies, network security, and firewall administration. The Network & Security Engineer collaborates with other IT teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure the secure and efficient operation of the network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Network Design and Implementation: Designing, configuring, and deploying network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, routers, switches, and wireless networks, based on business requirements and industry best practices.
2.Network Security Implementation: Implementing and managing network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), virtual private networks (VPN), and access control lists (ACLs).
3.Security Policy Development: Developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of network resources.
4.Network Monitoring and Analysis: Monitoring network traffic, identifying security threats, and conducting regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and mitigate risks.
5.Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Responding to network security incidents, investigating breaches, and conducting forensic analysis to determine the root cause and implement remedial actions.
6.Network Performance Optimization: Monitoring network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations to ensure efficient and reliable network operation.
7.Network Documentation and Reporting: Creating and maintaining network documentation, diagrams, and reports, including network diagrams, configuration details, and security incident reports.
8.Vendor Management: Collaborating with vendors to evaluate and select network and security solutions, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing service-level agreements (SLAs).
9.Network Infrastructure Support: Providing technical support for network-related issues, troubleshooting network connectivity problems, and assisting end-users with network-related inquiries.
10.Emerging Technologies: Staying updated with the latest advancements in networking and security technologies, evaluating their potential impact, and recommending appropriate solutions to enhance network performance and security.
Requirements:
1.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
2.Proven experience as a Network & Security Engineer or similar role, with expertise in network design, implementation, and security.
3.Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networks, etc.).
4.Experience with network security technologies and tools, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
5.Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices (ISO 27001, NIST, etc.).
6.Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (Wireshark, SNMP, etc.).
7.Strong understanding of network security principles, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
8.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex network and security issues.
9.Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
10.Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent are a plus.
